HRH The Earl of Wessex discovered that entertainment and education can go hand in hand during his visit to The Music Factory on Tuesday 15th January.
During his visit, the Earl met pupils from Clifton: A Community Arts School and Rawmarsh Community School – A Sports College.
The students gave the Earl a live demonstration of u-xplore, a ground-breaking software tool created by the Music Factory that helps young people connect with the world of business. They shared their own experiences of how the tool has helped them explore their options for the future.
The Earl also met members of the Rotherham business community who have been involved in u-xplore’s development.
Andy Pickles, Music Factory deputy chairman and u-xplore’s chief executive, told the Earl: “Rotherham is a phenomenal place to be in business and we’re proud of the fact that we trade all over the world from the backstreets of Parkgate.
“However, young people struggle to understand what’s beyond the school gates and it’s vital to find ways to get them involved with business. u-xplore brings the outside world into school in a way that engages and inspires young people.”
Before he left, the Earl toured The Music Factory’s multi-media and design studios and unveiled a plaque to commemorate his visit. He also received a gift of two Jive Bunny stuffed toys for his children.
